Presidential Cyberbullying

CNN posted the article: North Korea could test hydrogen bomb over Pacific Ocean, says foreign minister on Friday September 22nd. The articles discusses President Trump's and North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un's, recent online tiff. Much like high school girls both national leaders recently issued statements online that scalped each other. At a recent UN General Assembly on Tuesday Trump made a speech in which he threatened to"totally destroy" North Korea. In an unprecedented response Kim released a televised statement saying that Trump would "pay dearly" for the threats, and that North Korea "will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history." He goes on to state "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire." Moments later after deliberating his speech Kim's foreign minister told reporters in New York that Pyongyang could launch a nuclear missile test in response. "This could probably mean the strongest hydrogen bomb test over the Pacific Ocean." In response to this threat, Trump said on Twitter: "Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who is obviously a madman who doesn't mind killing or starving his people, will be tested like never before!" Obviously both leaders have gotten under each others skin but the manner in which everything has been carried out seems very childlike. While this heated exchange seems almost comical it is important to grasp the very real and serious repercussions that have yet to come.

Take a Kneel

In Eduardo Lara’s “ Blog Stage 5 ” he discusses the recent media attention surrounding the current backlash NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem have received. Citizens and even Donald Trump have taken to social media to share their outrage about the so called grievous disgrace the players who participated showed towards the nation. He goes on to discuss how these players have received threats from their organizations, their fans, and even their president. I agree with his belief that these player, who are simply expressing their freedom of expression, are being wrongfully mistreated.  By choosing to kneel during the anthem these players are not disrespecting the United States, rather they are simply choosing to express their respect in a different manner, while making a statement about the current status of our nation. This right is protected under the first amendment which guarantees our freedom of religion and speech. This freedom has been protected time

Goodbye Creepy White Men

It seems that todays headlines are flooded with either a new trump atrocity or another Hollywood sexual abuse scandal. Hollywood has always been a breeding ground for fowl behavior and it should be no surprise that even so called “high-profile” Hollywood is riddled with sexual assault. Recently there has been a large amount of revelations about the misconduct of quite a few of Hollywood and other industry elite such as, Harvey Weinstein, Louis CK, Kevin Spacey, and Matt Lauer.  In the beginning of October multiple women came forward accusing Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood producer, of sexual misconduct. The immensely negative reaction the public had towards his actions acted as a catalyst for exposing an exponential amount of more high-profile men accused of sexual misconduct. Hopefully we will continue see the bad seeds be weeded out. As society continues to grow and accept the truth and reality that sexual harassment is everywhere more and more people are going to feel safe e
